amidst lebanon's enduring socio-political challenges, and following the eruption of the war in gaza, "letters" unfolds as a collaborative film project by 18 lebanese filmmakers. the project began in october 2023 with each participant crafting a letter, expressing their sincere emotions in such difficult moments in history. filled with the echoes of lebanon's turbulent history, from the 1975 civil war to the 2006 war with israel, the harrowing beirut port explosion of 2020, the economic crisis and the failed revolution, these letters emerge as expressions of solidarity and trust.
all the filming was completed by the end of may 2024, before the start of the full-scale assault against lebanon.
