josef khallouf

Lebanese director Josef Khallouf launched his filmmaking career in 2005, writing, producing, and directing four short films: HOLIDAY IN THE MOUNTAINS, BEIT BYOUT, selected for the Cyprus International Film Festival, VNV: AN ESSAY ON EXISTENTIALISM, and RADIO, which participated in the 2024 Cannes Short Film Corner – Distribution Phase.
He later wrote and directed the feature-length documentary CONFLICT 1949–1979, screened at the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Glasgow.
In 2021 and 2022, Josef taught directing at Antonine University, mentoring the next generation of Lebanese filmmakers. In October 2023, he brought together 18 local directors to collaborate on LETTERS, a collective documentary feature that was showcased at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Currently, he is developing three new projects: the feature-length documentary MATCHMAKER, the collective feature THREE COLOURS: GREEN, WHITE, RED—selected for Talents Connexion du Marché du Film Court at Clermont-Ferrand—and his narrative feature THE DREAM MAKER.
