Palestinian short film 10 MINUTES YOUNGER by Nisreen Yaseen is set to world premiere at the Palestine Arts Festival Zurich, which will run from September 11th to the 15th.
Julie and Walid, two young teenagers who escape the stifling din of a restaurant together, sneak off on a spontaneous adventure through nature, away from the harsh realities of Palestine, to find a brief moment of respite by the river. As they explore, the line between reality and fantasy blurs, as though it were all a dream.
Speaking on her film, Yassin has stated that she “wanted to explore the feeling of lost time — the sadness of what we could have been if life weren't governed by rules. The title of the film reflects this feeling of trying to recapture moments we've already lost as we struggle to adapt to the expectations imposed on us. The film is about two children who break free from their constraints, even if only for a brief moment, to experience their sense of freedom.”
The film is written and directed by Nisreen Yassin and stars Marah Abu Srour, Waleed Abu Kamel, Haitham Khamis, Ivan Azazian, and Varvara Rizk. It is shot by Ashraf Dowani, edited by Philip Trzaskowski, with sound design by Montaser Abu Aloul, music by Alessandro Ghezzi, and international sales handled by MAD World.
