A film director born in the city of Irbid, Jordan, Sondos Al-Smerat holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Drama and Filmmaking from Yarmouk University. She trained under a distinguished group of members from the Jordanian Artists Association, of which she is also a member.
She began her career directing short films, such as A BAG, ZERO, and BARA’A, which earned several awards, and participated in advanced workshops with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan. Her film Simsim is the first narrative feature film to be produced in the city of Irbid, making her the first female director to lead such a production outside the capital
