georges hachem

Georges Hachem is an independent Lebanese film writer, director and producer,
who graduated from Louis Lumière National School in Paris.
His portfolio features several short films created in the framework of acting
workshops he regularly coached in Paris and Beirut.
In 2010, he wrote and directed Stray Bullet, a feature narrative, which starred the
Lebanese actress and director Nadine Labaki. The film, produced by Georges
Choucair, was critically acclaimed and garnered multiple accolades in many
international film festivals, including the Muhr Competition’s Best Arab Film award
at the 2010 Dubai International Film Festival and Best Screenplay award at the 2010
Cairo International Film Festival.
In 2016, Hachem wrote, produced, and directed Still Burning, a feature narrative
filmed between Paris and Beirut, starring the Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi
Mouawad, along with the French Algerian actress Adila Bendimerad, and the
Lebanese actor Fadi Abi Samra.
In 2022, Were It Not for Metro, his feature documentary portraying the stage
performers of an acclaimed Lebanese cabaret show, won the Best Arab
Documentary award at Malmö Arab FilmFestival, in Sweden.
Home Bitter Home, which premieres at the 2026 Rotterdam International Film
Festival, is his latest work: A set of five cine-portraits he conceived, developed and
produced, in Beirut, for a collective of Lebanese filmmakers (6) and actors (5)
